My experience at the BMW lab started on Feb. 2014, I discovered the lab and the labmates, the meetings on Thursday, and OpenBTS. Everything was new for me.During the first few weeks, I gathered information about OpenBTS, how a 2G network is working, what applications for OpenBTS … I improved my skills by installing OpenBTS, and studying its code. I also examined some specifications written by the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), and how it was implemented in the code. I also attended to the QoS (Quality of Service) course with professor Cheng.I enjoyed this experience because it brought me a technical background, about telephone network, C++, specifications … I also improved my English: every day at lunch I used to eat with labmates, and we discussed about many things, especially the Taiwanese culture (food, language, religion …), they really helped me to understand it.
